Captain Alexander Dunlap was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and died 1744 at Kerr's Creek, Augusta Co, VA.
Captain Alexander Dunlap, led the settlers into that part of Augusta County, VA known as the "Pastures." In 1743, Captain Dunlap was the farthermost settler on the Virginia frontier. In that year, he was appointed captain of horse.
He married Elizabeth MacFarlane. She was born in Ulster, Ireland and died 1786 in Augusta Co, VA. She was the daughter of Duncan MacFarlane and Anne Porter. View the MacFarlane line here.
